We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our team at the Nauru Regional Processing Centre.
About the Role
As part of the Senior Management Team, in your role as Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing consistent management coverage at the Nauru Regional Processing Centre. In this newly created role, you will manage Security and / or Accommodation whilst the incumbents are on their respective respite periods.
General Duties include but are not limited to:
• providing management coverage of Security and / or Accommodation whilst the incumbents are on their four (4) week respite periods
• undertaking projects and any other requirements for the contract as requested by the MTC Executive Team or Contract Manager
• responding and assisting in any incidents or emergencies including as Forward Commander as required
• managing the reception and induction processing of any new arrivals
• supervising and managing the Security Team as well as any sub-contractors in the security function
• coordinating and reviewing various monthly compliance reports
• building and maintaining a productive working relationship with team members, transferees and stakeholders
• providing leadership and motivation to supervisors and employees and engage regularly with teams to promote an open and inclusive environment
• approving, initiating, interpreting, revising and enforcing policies and directives to ensure the efficient management
• providing proper safeguards and making regular scheduled and unscheduled physical inspections to ensure appropriate safety and welfare of inmates/transferees, employees and visitors within the work areas
• making plans, developing strategies, and schedules, setting goals, and objectives to drive a continuous improvement model
• achieving budget performance in line with contract requirements.
• attending regular training and refresher sessions to maintain skills and qualifications including but not limited to cultural awareness, mental health, CPR and first aid
To be successful in this role you will:
• proven management experience either within detention, immigration, corrections or regional processing or resettlement services
• formal qualification in immigration/corrections/security management or related field, however, a Certificate IV in Security is the minimum requirement for this role
• be willing and able to undertake induction training, working and living in a hot tropical environment on Nauru
• be socially responsible with the highest standards of personal honesty and integrity
• be flexible and adaptable approach to varied working situations including covering various roles
• proven right to work in Australia
• willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Check
• current Working with Children Card
• current First Aid Certificate
• evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 (double vaccinated) plus one booster with a vaccine recognised in Australia
