Lower Burdekin Water delivers sustainable water services for the prosperity of agriculture, industry, community and environment within the Burdekin region. Established nearly 60 years ago the organisation has now grown to include over 330km’s of infrastructure across Ayr and Home Hill.
Work Location: Ayr
This role leads the operational activities of Lower Burdekin Water including the management of the water distribution, recharge, and supply businesses. The role is responsible for the management and supervision of the operational water and field workers, and contractors to ensure safe execution of regular work activities and delivery of civil projects on time and in budget. This role has direct contact with stakeholders and customers and is responsible to ensure services are delivered within LBW policies and procedures and contribute to overall customer satisfaction and enhance the reputation of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform the duties and obligations as an Officer and Person Conducting Business Units (PCBU) in the Queensland Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Manage performance and provide feedback, training, and development to direct reports to improve job performance through the performance management system.
- Assist in planning business maintenance and capital works programs to ensure reliable performance of plant, machinery, and infrastructure.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is undertaken on infrastructure, machinery and equipment
- Providing Subject Matter Expertise, leadership and technical guidance to a team of Field and Water Officers
- Partake in a rotating roster of running water on weekends and public holidays
- Ensure that environmental management in undertaken in line with LBW directions
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate or Diploma level qualifications in Frontline Management or equivalent experience.
- Sound knowledge of water supply and distribution systems. (desirable)
- Relevant trade qualifications and experience is desirable, alternatively knowledge of instrumentation
- Heavy machinery operator’s certifications, and sound knowledge of heavy machinery operations (or the ability to obtain).
- In depth knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, and compliance requirements.
- Working at Heights and Confined Spaces certifications, (or the ability to obtain).
- High level knowledge of Work Health and Safety implementation in an agriculture and construction environment, including Hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation.
