About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, direction and control of the operations in the Empty Container Park in order to achieve customer requirements within a safe and cost-effective manner. You will oversee Forklift Operators, Container Surveyors and Gate Clerks on the shift. 

You will be working on day shift (4am - 12pm). 

You must demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to manage and motivate others to achieve outcomes for the Company and our clients in a pro-active, efficient and timely manner. 

As the Operations Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, organise and manage the operations and labour to ensure achievement of the operational plan in an effective, safe and timely manner
  • Working with the planning team to ensure that customer requests are prioritised appropriately to meet business needs and stakeholder expectations
  • Lead, motivate and direct employees to perform their functions in accordance with operational requirements and safety standards
  • Manage individual employee performance and training in conjunction with the Operations Manager
  • Ensure adequate security is maintained on site at all times
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and operating procedures

About you

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • LF Forklift license with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Forklift Operator in an Empty Container Park
  • Understanding of all operations within an Empty Container Park
  • QAP accreditation desirable but not essential 
  • Previous experience leading and managing people
  • Knowledge of WHS requirements and obligations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and build relationships with a wide variety of people
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • PC literacy, exposure to terminal control systems an advantage
  • The ability to work shift work and the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position
