About the role
We are looking for an event manager who has direct experience and knowledge of managing the complexities and logistics of large-scale Outdoor Events. This is a hands-on role that requires people management (staff, volunteers, partners), project planning, budgeting, logistics skills and a strong understanding of risk management. This role presents projects across Australia and travel is involved. It works closely with other areas of TDC - Finance, Corporate & Partnerships teams, and the Tour Experience Committee. Experience with Ways of Working, JIRA and Microsoft Dynamics or similar programs would be an advantage.
Job purpose
This Events Manager (EM) role has a key focus on the delivery of our Outdoor Events (rides, walks, runs etc). This position is directly responsible for the management and lead for events with a clear purpose to achieve the following goals:
- create safe environments
- deliver financially sustainable events
- create and execute event plans
- achieve high quality participation engagement
- maximise the use of TDC volunteer workforce
- achieve KPI’s
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• In conjunction with the Senior Events Manager identify and deliver best practices to streamline event activities and procedures to increase efficiencies.
• Scoping of event logistics, activations, and experiential components.
• Manage budgets to ensure the event stays within agreed expenditure.
• Deliver an event through quality project management, as the ‘Events Lead’.
• Be the ‘Project Lead’ (i.e. responsible for project management of all areas outside of the normal scope of event logistics, for that specific project).
• Deliver a safety-first culture.
Duties:
• Execute high quality, safe and successful event experiences.
• Undertake detailed preplanning: identify, source, recruitment, or book resources required and liaise with external stakeholders, and external infrastructure, equipment, and expertise suppliers.
• Conduct quality research and reconnaissance. Conduct site visits where necessary.
• Create event briefs and communicate these to other parts of the organisation i.e. Finance, Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, etc, as well as event teams and volunteers to ensure good communications and flow of information.
• Create and maintain quality event documentation including runsheets, course maps, logistics schedules, risk plans and event tools for the successful execution of events
• Maintain detailed files and documentation systems.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, stakeholders and industry bodies. Lead, brief and manage the volunteers and the event crew on your allocated events.
• Undertake post event process reviewing operations, protocols, staff, logistics, equipment, budgets, and create a comprehensive port event report.

3+yrs experience as an Outdoor Events Manager.
Solid logistics and planning skills.

Strong charity ethos. Driven to make a difference.
Understanding of project management software an advantage.
Working conditions
Tour de Cure will provide you with a laptop and you’ll work in an office environment with your own desk area, along with the whole TDC HQ team. Flexible working conditions subject to your managers discretion.

Deliver all allocated events in the calendar year within budget.
