Luerssen Australia was established in 2018 to commence construction of 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Royal Australian Navy over a 12 year period. We work closely with our customer and stakeholders to deliver excellence in service.

The Role

The purpose of this position is to produce a critical-path resource loaded outfitting schedule and product-oriented work breakdown structure for each ship, integrating with the project and production schedules and with the schedules of various Departments and Subcontractors. The Planner will also develop and provide work packages as well as reports to the management team.

The PDS Scheduler will build, maintain and report on comprehensive long-, mid-, and short-term plans and schedules on a yearly, bi-weekly, and weekly basis to support decision-making processes, wil support the work preparation team and apply problem-solving skills to enhance productivity for the sites.

As part of continual improvement this role shall apply lean methodologies and problem-solving techniques to contribute to continuous improvements on the integrated project controls processes and systems in a manner that supports Luerssen Australia's internal requirements as well as those of their contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Create schedule activity, work order number, and establish a budget. Track material status (if any) and coordinate the start of work with production.
  • Assist in creation of work activities according to the building method, work breakdown structure and design and distribute work packages.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
  • Verify material availability prior to start of work. Take appropriate action to resolve or expedite any missing or late material with Procurement and Supply Chain.
  • Track and manage reorders.
  • Design change notices and other rework activities.
  • Develop production hours' estimates for work activities. Refine estimates based on actuals used.
  • Participate in production floor meetings.
  • Review production designs and schedules. Provide feedback on installation timing, discipline method, or team.
  • Participate and provide input to build method planning process. Interface with Engineering and Production teams to determine best method for installation of all parts and equipment in assigned systems or areas.
  • Collect data for hours-worked, situation and productivity reports.
  • Work closely with the interstate teams to ensure lessons learned are implemented and to ensure consistency and efficiency in the Planning and Work Preparation activities based on the L?rssen Build Philosophy.
  • Provide support to other functions as required.
  • Develop Program Reports for internal review.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Flow Production.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Production Planning or Project Management, or a combination of experience, training and education that provides the required knowledge.
  • Industry qualification in Production Planning and or Project Management e.g. CPIM, PMP, APICS, IBF
  • A background in a trade relevant to shipbuilding would be an advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience in shipbuilding, including experience with ship outfitting, machinery and equipment - essential.
  • Sound understanding of project schedule and management principles, tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of production workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience in management of subcontractors.
  • Prior experience in Defence would be an advantage.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and conversant with other Microsoft Office Applications and ERP / PLM systems
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced use of production planning or project management software.
  • Highly developed skills in analysing, planning, and monitoring plans and schedules.
  • Exposure to Earned Value Management principles.
  • Ability to review design information, schematics or ship specifications to ensure scope is addressed.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
