Luerssen Australia was established in 2018 to commence construction of 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Royal Australian Navy over a 12 year period. We work closely with our customer and stakeholders to deliver excellence in service.
The Roles
We are looking for a number of Workpack & Production Planners to join our team in Henderson. The new team members will work as part of the Manufacturing Engineering department in specialised areas including Shipbuilding, Outfitting, Mechanical, Piping & project coordination.
The Planners will be responsible for developing and maintaining production and technical documents, including work packs & specifications, specifically for to the construction of ships. The Planners may also be tasked with scheduling and coordinating of change on a number of vessels under construction and for resolution of planning and resource issues.
Responsibilities
- Developing technical documents (demarcation lists, specifications) with the relevant departments
- Creating and maintaining work packages in the ERP system on the basis of the schedule, design and built strategy.
- Liaison with the Document Control department for submittal of work packages to external stakeholders.
- Technical assessment of documents to describe its production scope.
- Assignment of drawings and material to respective work packs within the ERP system.
- Collaborate with the Engineering/Design, Scheduling and Procurement Departments to ensure availability of material and documents to execute scope as per schedule.
- Analyse short term issues and develop recommendations for resolution. Work across functional areas of responsibility to execute solutions.
- Work closely with the Ship Management team to develop and establish the build strategy and its capacity requirements.
- Scheduling and coordination changes during construction.
- Develop and maintain production detail schedules as required
- Regular review of the production schedule and its progress
- Analyse the impact of unplanned issues and make recommendations for recovery
- Monitor production status and progress by collecting and assessing data. Prepare reports for review.
- Respond to product delivery requests by customer and internal stakeholders.
- Closing the gap between program scheduling and the execution of our shipbuilding program
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role/environment
- Previous experience in production area of shipbuilding/naval shipbuilding is essential.
- Trade background beneficial with some experience in reading technical drawings, bill of materials and use of 3D visualisation software
- Intermediate to advance skills in the Microsoft suite of products, in particular MS Excel and MS Project.
- Experience in the use of ERP systems
- Experience gained within a Defence/shipbuilding/heavy engineering environment - highly desirable
- Well- developed communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability to think laterally with problem solving ability
- Ability to self-manage and work to tight deadlines
- An ability to analyse and manage complex issues
- A strategic, pragmatic and collaborative approach to work
