Southern Cross Farms provides horticultural management services to private, institutional, and corporate investment groups with several production sites across Sunraysia, Riverland, Moreton Bay and Riverina regions.
We are looking for a Packing Line Supervisor to join the Southern Cross Farms Team at our Blueberry farm in Wamuran, Queensland for the upcoming Harvest Season.
About The Role
The Packing Line Supervisor role is responsible for coordinating packing activities and supervision of employees and labour to ensure fruit is packed to customer specifications and orders.
Your role will involve determining the requirements for labour and equipment based on crop prediction information supplied by the farming operations located at the same site. The position will also be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of line equipment as required. The individual in this role is required to lead by example and foster a positive team environment.
Some Of The Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and supervise employees to ensure maximum productivity.
- Work with Farm Business Manager and Admin & Logistics Manger to develop production schedule, facilitate orders and co-ordinate internal and external resources .
- Set up, operate and maintain equipment. Communicate with technicians as required.
- Accurate and timely management of packed product, wastage and production data.
- Monitor existing business processes and recommend changes if necessary.
- Monitor quality, food safety, work health and safety requirements, and continually drive improvement in these areas.
- Ensure staff training is maintained in current health and safety, quality and environmental procedures.
- Be flexible with hours as the season demands.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have -
- Demonstrated experience in supervising in a Packing Shed or similar environment.
- Organisation and planning skills.
- Mechanically minded; experience in grading and packing shed equipment would be desirable
- Strong focus on achieving results and minimising any rejections.
- Self motivated, self starter.
- Ability to be hands on when required and show support for the team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Works cooperatively within a team
- Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and safety requirements.
