This permanent position is an opportunity for a dynamic Palliative Care Physician to provide expert medical assessment and management of patients in the Palliative Care Service within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
The Staff Specialist will be part of a team responsible for the provision of specialist Palliative Care services to community, emergency patients, consults service and inpatients. The successful applicant will proactively support the development of Palliative Care and end of life care services, facilitate a culture of learning, and support research within the department.
We’re looking for a qualified physician who will:
· Provide medical care of Palliative Care patients in the community, directly and through supporting other members of the multidisciplinary team
· Provide a hospital consult service for in-patients
· Provide medical care of Palliative Care patients admitted in the specialist Palliative Care unit
· Participate in out-patient clinics and provide support to the community Palliative Care teams.
· Participate in the Palliative Care after hours on call roster across ISLHD (Illawarra and Shoalhaven).
· Provide supervision to Advanced Trainees. Trainees, JMOs and medical students

Selection Criteria:
1. Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and/or Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) and/or expecting Fellowship within 6 months.
3. Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supporting wellbeing of medical staff/students
6. Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
