That's why we're on the lookout for two passionate and dedicated Paralegals to join our close-knit Class Actions team in our Melbourne office on a casual basis. Here, you'll be part of a team of Lawyers who share your enthusiasm for championing Class Actions and making a real impact.
These positions are ideal for law students in their penultimate year, with no more than 18 months remaining until graduation.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Gather facts, documents and evidence;
- Assist with discovery requests & coordinate document production;
- Maintain and search databases;
- Work with clients and class action members to gather and convey information;
- Liaise with clients, law firms, barristers, court staff, insurers, doctors and other third parties;
- Draft court documents, prepare & compile briefs, letters and correspondence;
- Prepare for trials and coordinate trial logistics, including witness materials and other supporting documents;
- Assist in coordinating conferences and mediations, and
- Prepare memoranda, correspondence and other legal documents.
Skills and experience
- Must have completed torts law;
- Experience in Class Actions preferred but not essential;
- Knowledge of Court rules and procedures;
- Ability to perform legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc;
- Ability to work independently, organise and prioritise workload, and adapt to changing priorities;
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions;
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, planning, verbal and written communication skills;
- High level of professionalism and exceptional client service skills and able to handle sensitive/confidential information with appropriate care;
- Well organised and consistently completes projects on time with great attention to detail; and
- Technology-savvy and proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
