We are actively seeking an enthusiastic person or persons to join our dynamic team as a 'Medical Admin' at Pacific Neurology. This position would support our existing Admin staff to fill a vacancy. The practice is expanding, and we have now opened a branch in East Maitland at Albion Centre, Maitland. Positions are available at Belmont and Maitland.
Our current staffing is managed by 2 part-time staff members and we are seeking to appoint another permanent part-time or full-time employee who is able to start immediately. It is possible to enter a casual pool if preferred but we are seeking to appoint someone who is interested in a long-term position. We are also seeking applicants interested in a position at Maitland alone and this would be in addition to the position required in Belmont.
We have an immediate opening for a part-time Medical Admin position (2-3 days per week) commencing as soon as possible. Interviews will be held over the next couple of days.
We realize that the pandemic lockdowns have caused unexpected challenges. Job security is exceptionally important. We have never shut down even during the previous lockdowns given the essential nature of this work. We would prefer candidates who are seeking to be employed long-term and who value job security above everything else.
Desirable Qualities:
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a fluctuating workload
- Excellent communication skills including a professional phone manner
- Quick in typing and good in computer skills; basic IT troubleshooting knowledge preferred (*troubleshooting printing/internet problems etc.)
- Experience with practice management software (Genie) and handling ECLIPSE claims (*preferred but not essential and training will be provided on the job)
- Experience in handling EFTPOS transactions
- Basic book-keeping skills

- Full NSW Driver's license (unconditional)

- A person who can take initiative to improve practice performance and can work as a team rather than as a SOLO person.
No prior experience is necessary. You will be responsible for a variety of duties including booking appointments, greeting patients, taking telephone calls, processing payments (both inpatient ECLIPSE claims and outpatient billing), managing recalls, maintaining digital signage, stock management, bookkeeping and a wide range of administrative responsibilities. It is required that you may work up to 3 full days per week (days negotiable) from 9 am to 5 pm. There is a potential for an additional work day on Fridays during busy periods. Prior experience as a receptionist or medical secretary is desirable but not essential.
To be considered for this role you must be available to start as soon as possible, and be willing to occasionally work early from 8.30 am to 5:30 pm. Occasional clinics may run up to 6:00 pm and it is expected that you are flexible. There may be an opportunity for occasional work on a Friday or a Saturday and Sat duties will be paid at penalty rates as per the specified Health Professionals Support Services Award. It is expected that you are prepared to take on extra shifts to cover sick or annual leave. Assistance with certain procedures may be required but no previous training is necessary. For the right person who demonstrates exceptional performance, there may be an opportunity to change this to a permanent full-time position in future.
All shifts will be rostered well ahead of time. We are seeking to appoint on a 'temporary part-time' basis and the person will be under probation for 6 months. This could be changed by mutual agreement to a temporary fixed part-time position (annual contract) for the right person and for the right candidate, it is possible that this would change into a permanent position (by mutual negotiation). Pay will be at an hourly rate (negotiable for suitable applicants) and as per the Health Professionals Support Services Award (2010) (copy available on request), commensurate with your level of experience. SGC, overtime and penalty rates will be paid as applicable. Interviews will be held on or after Friday 10 August 2022.
