We are currently on the hunt for an experienced and talented Pastry Chef to join the team in Sunshine West. The Pastry Chef is responsible for the preparing pastry batters and bases for baking and assisting in the production of sweet products. We are looking for someone who has a passion for sweets, cakes, and baked goods.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mixing, cutting and decorating pastries
- Bulk production of muffins, slices and cakes
- Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes
- Packing products for deliveries
- Cleaning and general housekeeping
- Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget
- Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and HACCP regulations
- Lifting up to 20kg
- Be comfortable with fast paced repetitive work
The ideal applicant will:
- Have a minimum of 24 months proven experience as Pastry Chef
- Experience with croissant making is favourable
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- Organizing and leadership skills
- Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
- In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
- Hold or will be willing to obtain a National Police Check (valid within 6months)
- Reliable form of transportation (we are not located near public transport)
