The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced full-time Pastry Chef specialising in viennoiserie. Working with our vibrant team, you will be responsible for the production of our pastry items ensuring the highest quality, creativity and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute creative and high-quality pastry recipes.
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, cookies, and desserts.
- Decorate and present pastries in an appealing manner.
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and appearance of all pastries.
- Maintain inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies.
- Adhere to health and safety standards in the kitchen.
- Collaborate with the management to develop menus, create daily specials and
- Train cooks and other staff, as well as manage food/ingredient costs.
- Monitor food quality and consistency and adjust as necessary to meet customer satisfaction.
- Handle customer inquiries and special requests, providing excellent service and resolving any issue promptly.
- Contribute to a positive work environment by fostering teamwork, training, communication and professionalism among kitchen staff.
- Keep yourself updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative techniques and ingredients into menu offerings.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
Experience and Qualification Requirements
Experience in viennoiserie is essential. In addition you will have:
- Qualifications in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience
- Minimum two years of experience as a Pastry Chef
- A passion for creating beautiful pastries, cakes and desserts
- Exceptional communication and immaculate presentation
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Understanding of Food Safety and OH&S standards and compliance
- Use correct techniques and follow procedures and recipes when preparing and cooking menu items
- Excellent attention to detail
- Outstanding time management during preparation and service periods
- Calm and composed demeanour
Experience and Qualification Requirements
- Australian Citizens and Permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
- Minimum AQF level Diploma of Hospitality and Management.
- Minimum two years of experience as a chef
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced knowledge and ongoing awareness of culinary techniques.
- Commitment to work full time (at least 38 hours per week).
- Excellent time management skills.
