As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of pastries, desserts, and breads, ensuring high-quality products and maintaining a clean and organised work area.

• Create and bake a wide range of pastries, desserts, and breads according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Decorate and present pastries and desserts in an appealing and artistic manner.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of baking ingredients and supplies.
• Ensure all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed.
• Collaborate with the team to develop new pastry recipes and menu items.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior pastry staff.

Task & Responsibilities

• checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
• checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients
• kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods
• preparing pastry fillings
• monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times
• coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products
• glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
• operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits
• emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment

Qualification & Experience

• Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role in a professional kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and creativity in pastry decoration.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications.
