About the role
The primary role of the Payroll and Accounts Officer is to maintain the accounting records for the various stakeholders within the School. This role is varied in its accounting duties and includes: overseeing the management of the Payroll and superannuation function, providing payroll-related reports as required, providing support to the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and administration team; plus maintenance of the fixed asset register. It is a diverse role that requires flexibility, coupled with the ability to multitask with a high attention to detail, and with a collaborative team approach. The successful candidate will possess a positive frame of mind, engage in a team approach, and possess clear and accurate communication skills with a can-do attitude while completing tasks readily and reliably.
The main areas of responsibility will be: Administration, Facilities Bookings, Mail, Fixed Assets, Payroll and Superannuation, Accounts Payable, Banking and Debtor records and payments, and the accounting function for the Parent and Friend Association.
Candidate Profile
- Must display familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity and proficiency with the TASS (The Alpha School System) is highly desired
- Payroll experience is highly desired
- Prior accounting experience in accounts-type work is essential
- Ability to perform duties with limited supervision and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality
- Willingness to relieve other School Administration Staff when required
- Ability to work collegially and effectively as part of a team to meet the needs of all internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to problem-solve, understand and relay information accurately
- Current First Aid and CPR
- A current Working with Children Check/Blue Card or the ability to obtain one
- An eye for detail, proactive and a critical thinker
- Good communication skills and ability to interpret and apply EBA to payroll function
