Job description

About Us

Our story began in 2000, with two office locations serving a few thousand consumers in Melbourne. Today, we are listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and serve over 100,000 happy customers nationwide through a broad distribution network of brokers, dealers, and direct to the public. We are passionate about what we do and believe in building connections with each other through our purpose of 'solving life's financial needs’.

Are you ready to take the wheel in a pivotal role that blends precision, analytics, and a passion for Payroll and People data? Look no further - our team is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll and People Analyst to drive the seamless and accurate processing of payroll, together with our payroll provider, all while contributing to the business intelligence of our thriving People function.  This role could be full time or part time.

About the role

As our Payroll and People Analyst, you will be the engine behind our payroll processes, collaborating closely with our outsourced payroll provider to handle fortnightly payroll for over 350 employees across Australia and New Zealand, including executives and directors. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting all functions associated with the preparation, review, and completion of each authorised pay run.
  • Providing a high-quality, compliant, and customer-centric payroll coordination service for the Group.
  • Responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and entitlements.
  • Maintaining meticulous employee files and records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HRIS profiles.
  • Develop and maintain all Payroll and People reporting, providing meaningful analysis on data trends and insights.
  • Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on key people-related KPIs for key stakeholders.
  • Analyse headcount, turnover, and other relevant data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Analyse survey, performance data and other feedback mechanisms to assess and improve employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with the P&C team to implement initiatives that enhance workplace satisfaction.

Day to day you:

  • Showcase your cost management skills and be a key player in managing costs of our payroll vendor, contributing to process improvements, and identifying cost-saving measures.
  • Deliver key reports and analysis including completion of end-of-month reporting, monitoring payroll accounting activities with the vendor, as well as maintaining headcount, turnover, and other people-related metrics.
  • Present meaningful analysis and insights to the People team and contribute to monthly board reporting on Payroll and People metrics.
  • As the systems go-to person, maximise the use of Elmo and Payroll Metrics, ensuring data integrity and utilising reporting functionality in both systems.
  • Prepare all monthly, quarterly and annual P&C reporting, submitting all required reporting such as WGEA, benchmarking data, and annual remuneration review data.

About you

You have comprehensive experience in Australian and New Zealand payroll with deep knowledge of modern awards, and legislation, including the BFI Award and the Holidays Act 2003. You're a meticulous individual with a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to data analysis and payroll operations. You have a proven analytics superpower and enjoy making sense of seemingly disparate data into meaningful insights. You have a knack for unravelling complex puzzles and thrive on putting your strong analytics and problem-solving skills into action. To top it off, you can present intricate data in a clear and relatable manner. You are comfortable in data visualisation tools, HRIS systems - not just tech savvy but a tech superstar. In our fast paced and dynamic environment collaboration is key. If you enjoy the team setting, bringing energy and ideas to the table, you are the team player extraordinaire we're searching for. A solid educational foundation in Finance, HR, Business, Accounting, or Statistics is preferred.

Why us

  • Build your international exposure and manage payroll across Australia and New Zealand, contributing to a global perspective.
  • Join a team that values professional development and offers opportunities for advancement.
  • Be part of a dynamic and collaborative team focused on achieving common goals.
  • Tackle multifaceted tasks that keep you engaged and challenged every day.
  • Leadership development and a roadmap for career progression.
  • 8 weeks full pay for primary carers and two weeks full pay for secondary carers as part of our paid parental support.
  • Hybrid working arrangements for a flexible work-life balance.
  • Purchased lifestyle leave to recharge your engines.
  • Birthday leave because celebrating milestones is essential.
  • Bonus program for those extra turbo boosts.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
