About the Role:

Woodside's Payroll team currently run payroll across 6 continents - Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa and North America and South America.

The Payroll Governance Specialist supports the team in ensuring payroll data management meet regional regulatory requirements.

In addition, this role works closely with Woodside's regional payroll teams to ensure effective payroll controls and processes are maintained to meet internal requirements such as SOX, Audit and reporting.

This is a permanent role based from our global headquarters in Perth, and our state-of-the-art campus reflects the quality-of-life Perth is known for - with a six Green Star rating, advanced wellness features and flexibility in how you work.

Please note there will be a requirement to travel to our Houston offices on an ad-hoc basis to liaise with the payroll team based there.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting into the Workforce Administration and Payroll Manager, this position is important in ensuring our payroll is delivered accurately and is compliant with all relevant regulations globally.

You will deliver key regulatory payroll compliance activity and reporting by liaising with internal stakeholders to achieve timely and quality outcomes and ensure all HR and payroll data is managed in accordance with Woodside's policy and meets Global Payroll Governance Risk and Control Matrix (RACM) standards.

In this role you will be viewed as SME supporting facilitation of both internal and external audits, working closely with Payroll to ensure timely provision of data, as well as managing SOX Controls and liaising with the internal SOX audit team to ensure we maintain Operating effectiveness.

To deliver these outcomes you will:

  • Liaise with Payroll leads to ensure regulatory or legislative changes are reflected within SuccessFactors ECP.
  • Formulate and implement global process improvements incorporating changes to maintain Global Payroll Governance RACM.
  • Work with Payroll and Finance to ensure all internal reporting and General ledger reconciliations are completed on time.
  • Provide reports and data as required to the business and external organisations such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
  • Conduct internal assurance activities identifying any deviations and working with Payroll & Workforce Admin teams to identify improvements to maximise adherence.
  • Build relationships with HR stakeholders and provide advice and support on complex payroll and HR Admin queries.
Skills & Experience:

This is an important role within our Payroll team, who have global reach. We are seeking an experienced payroll professional who can bring a broad range of experiences to the team and can demonstrate some of the following:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience within Payroll environment
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of legislative and regulatory Payroll compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge specifically in the areas of payroll tax, STP2, superannuation and financial year end reporting
  • Experience of global payroll systems and processes desirable
  • Experience in strong Stakeholder management, building rapport and influencing outcomes
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Flexible with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities ensuring deadlines and milestones achieved
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Able to work autonomously driving outcomes and deliverables
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills with experience in complex reconciliations
  • Demonstrated experience of working in and problem solving in the following environments SAP, Success Factors EC & EC Payroll
  • Ability to analyse large amounts of data, identify errors and formulate fit-for-purpose solutions to mitigate risk
