The Organisation
Our client, a leading higher education institution in Australia, are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to provide exceptional customer service, payroll and data entry support to the organisation. Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Payroll Processing: Manage new starter information, terminations, allowances, casual timesheets, tax details, and payroll adjustments.
- Reconciliations: Conduct and ensure accuracy in reconciling Long Service Leave, redundancies, severance payments, sick leave, workers compensation, and payment discrepancies.
- Query Resolution: Address complex payroll queries from University staff, providing clear and accurate information.
- Award/Agreement Interpretation: Apply awards/agreements related to overtime, shift allowances, and other payroll terms, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Work with the payroll team to meet deadlines, support team members, and assist other teams during peak periods.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records and implement efficient e-filing systems.
- Knowledge and Capability Building: Participate in job rotation and continuous improvement of payroll processes.
- Project Participation: Engage in payroll improvement projects and align activities with the University’s strategic direction.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as required, suitable to the role’s level.
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience in payroll processing and reconciliation.
- Experience working in a high-volume data entry position.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, processes, including taxation and superannuation.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to handle queries and issues promptly.
- High level computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office package as well as email and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology.
