We are seeking a Full-time Payroll Officer to join a busy and supportive environment. You will be responsible for managing and processing a payroll of 500+ staff. This role is challenging yet rewarding and would suit someone with high volume payroll experience.
The role accountabilities are as follows:
- Accurately process a fortnightly and weekly payroll for 500+ employees
- Ensure all hours worked, leave taken, and other relevant data are recorded and calculated correctly whilst maintaining confidentiality and security of payroll data and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Manually maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the payroll system, including personal information, salary details, and tax withholding allowances, and conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors and take corrective actions as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll matters.
- Work closely with Finance, HR and other departments to exchange information and resolve payroll-related issues effectively and communicate payroll deadlines, changes, and updates to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in payroll processing, such as automation, system upgrades, or workflow optimizations and implement best practices and standardized procedures to streamline payroll operations and reduce manual errors.
Your experience and skills:
- Experience in manually calculating leave entitlements, termination pays, back pays and coding timesheets by hand.
- An understanding of employment legislation and experience in working with various enterprise agreements.
- Well-developed communication skills to convey complex payroll information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Ability to prepare payroll reports for internal and external partners, using the electronic payroll system or other Microsoft software e.g. excel, myob.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload demands.
- Effective problem-solving skills and an ability to make timely and informed decisions whilst meeting strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
