About the Role
Payroll Officer
St Aloysius’ College is seeking to appoint a diligent and highly experienced Payroll Officer on a part-time basis (0.6FTE) to lead and steward all aspects of payroll operations of the College.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Payroll Officer is responsible for managing the preparation and processing of all payrolls, and ensuring compliance, accuracy and timely delivery. The Payroll Officer will oversee employee compensation, address payroll-related enquiries, manage the payroll database and contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance and payroll operations of the College.
The Payroll Officer will demonstrate strong expertise in coordinating and processing payroll, reconciliation, journalling, and reporting obligations as well as possess comprehensive knowledge of all relevant industrial instruments, regulations and legislation.
The successful candidate will excel in operating within a high-performance setting, adept at cultivating professionalism and fostering collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, providing an effective and seamless payroll function that commits to maintaining high compliance standards.
The is an ongoing part-time role, due to commence in August 2024. The successful candidate will need to be able to commit to working Wednesday and Thursday, though the College is open to negotiating flexible working arrangements for the performance of the third day with the successful candidate.

About You
At a minimum the successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic education of boys in the Jesuit tradition;
- Minimum of 10 years of administration and processing of payroll within a medium sized organisation, with experience in the education sector advantageous;
- Possess relevant qualification in accounting, finance, business or payroll administration, or a related field.
- Proven ability to understand and interpret industrial awards, laws and Agreements;
- Demonstrated outstanding time management and organisational skills to execute payroll in an accurate and timely manner, whilst managing other competing demands;
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Proficiency in payroll software and Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills. Experience using Synergetic would be advantageous;
- Demonstrated ability in interpreting and processing workers compensation, PAYG payments, superannuation, calculating termination payments, onboarding new employees and end to end payroll processing;
- Demonstrated leadership in project and change management, with experience in the successful selection and implementation of a new payroll and finance platform desirable;
- An ability to work independently, as a self-starter and collaboratively as a supportive and engaged team member;
- Possess high level of customer service skills and the ability to liaise with all stakeholders of the College;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Capability to maintain confidential information with discretion.
