Located on the beautiful Great South Coast, South West Healthcare offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and psychiatric services. The organisation serves a catchment in excess of 110,000 and comprises of a total of 282 beds and an extensive range of primary and community services.Warrnambool boasts excellent sporting, education (pre-school to university), social and cultural facilities. The city’s award winning foreshore promenade is a 5.7km path that stretches from the breakwater along the coastline to the Hopkins River mouth.

About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking applications from an experienced Peer Support Worker to join the Hospital Outreach Postsuicidal Engagement (HOPE) program as part of the Warrnambool's Adult Mental Health Team and work alongside consumers, families and clinical staff to provide targeted support to consumers 

This rewarding role will offer assistance to consumers and their families accessing the HOPE program and also educate staff on how to deliver clear and accessible information to them. The Peer Support Worker will also assist consumers to set goals, share experiences, develop and maintain community and natural support systems whilst upholding the six peer values.

Position overview

  • Permanent, Part-time (48 hour per fortnight)
  • Warrnambool Campus
  • Lived Experience Worker, Level 2
  • Salary Range: $67.522.00 - $71.635.20 pro rata, plus superannuation

This position is eligible for an incentive payment for rent, childcare, relocation costs and more, as part of the new workforce and incentive grants program administered by Rural Agency Workforce Victoria (RWAV) up to $10,000.

Proven written and verbal communication skills are highly regarded, along with the ability to build effective partnerships with consumer networks and those managing service delivery at SWH and in the community.
