About the People and Capability Team
ASQA’s People and Capability Team is a multi-functional human resources (HR) team working in a high profile, fast paced environment. The team works closely with internal stakeholders to identify strategic and operational workforce requirements.
As a key member of the People and Capability Team, you will contribute to the effective delivery of considered and innovative HR services across ASQA. You will be a self-motivated, excellent communicator, strategic and critical thinker with attention to detail, HR generalist who will specialise in one or more of the following areas:
- recruitment and induction
- learning and development
- workplace health, safety and wellbeing
- diversity and inclusion
- workplace relations
- employment conditions and entitlements
- case management (including conduct, performance management, health and compensation)
- workforce planning
- building high performance
- HR Projects
- payroll management
We are seeking to fill current and future vacancies for:
- EL1 Assistant Directors
- APS6 Senior People and Capability Advisors
- APS5 People and Capability Advisors
- APS4 People and Capability Officers
- APS3 People and Capability Support Officers
Skills and experience
Our ideal candidates will have:
- a high level of interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor and adapt messaging to target audiences,
- a high level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills, including the ability to work independently to deliver high quality outcomes,
- an ability to understand, interpret and apply relevant legislation and frameworks, and apply good judgement when making decisions,
- demonstrated experience undertaking a broad range of HR administrative activities in relation to the functional areas outlines above (i.e. payroll, recruitment, learning and development, work health and safety),
- the ability to proficiently use information technology (IT) systems, such as SAP and Microsoft Office products, and
- the ability to proactively manage workloads to achieve results, keeping self and others well informed on work progress, and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, you must be Australian Citizen to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed, in writing, to the contrary.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks (including a Federal Police Check) and obtain a Baseline security clearance (if they do not already hold a clearance).

These positions are available as an ongoing or non-ongoing opportunities. Non-ongoing opportunities will be offered for a fixed term of up to 12 months, with the potential to becoming ongoing.
This selection process may be used to establish a merit pool. The merit pool may be accessed to fill ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies for similar roles within ASQA or across the APS over the next 18 months.
