Job description

We are currently looking for a People & Culture Director to join our senior leadership team. The People & Culture Director oversees all recruitment, training, development and compliance requirements for Raging Waters Sydney.

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Manage and co-ordinate resource planning, training, mentoring, recruitment and performance reviews. 
  • Set service standards within the People & Culture team to ensure the delivery of professional internal service to team members, contractors & external visitors whilst creating and maintaining a positive culture. 
  • Have a proven understanding and ability to interpret relevant Award Agreements along with other legislative policies & documentation. 
  • Ensure systems, process and practices are in place to enable team members to effectively execute their roles. 
  • Advise and assist managers and supervisors with performance management, investigations and terminations related to WHS and Code of Conduct.  
  • Provide team member related reports for the General Manager as required, ensuring confidentiality is maintained. 
  • Assist with the facilitation of training courses as required to ensure compliance with Work Health Safety and legislation. 
  • Development of Position Descriptions and Job advertisements for Full Time & Seasonal roles  
  • Utilisation of recruiting tactics including, but not limited to, advertising, engagement and partnerships. 
  • Develop and implement and Team Member orientation and training programs. 
  • Oversee the Reward & Recognition Program for team members  
  • Manage and conduct interviews for supervisor and above positions and assist Managers to ensure that the successful candidate aligns to the businesses core values. 
  • Oversee Payroll function through direct supervision of the Payroll Officer
  • Ensure strict adherence to budget guidelines and report on expenditures against expenses budget.   
  • Manage with end-of-month financial reporting and analysis and modify existing strategies to align with changing targets. 
  • Assist in reviewing, developing, implementing and monitoring the performance and use of Job Safe Procedures, or similar (i.e. Safe Operating Procedures and Safe Work Method Statement)  
  • Review and compile training documentation, processes and procedures across all departments 
  • Oversee the return to work process across all business units including management of complex workers compensation claims including liaison with medical providers, specialists and insurance claim managers  
  • Report on safety including incidents, injuries and near misses to Corporate and relevant agencies as required. 
  • Oversee compliance with applicable laws that promote and enforce safe practices and behaviours at work. 
  • Coach and challenge managers on decision making in HR and safety matters and in the roll out and management of these processes/activities. 
  • Follow and comply with Work Health Safety policies, procedures and guidelines. 
  • Ensure all team members are aware of their Work Health Safety responsibilities. 

Workplace Health & Safety (WHS): 

  • Follow and comply with Work Health Safety policies, procedures and guidelines. 
  • Correctly use all safety and personal protective equipment 
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours. 
  • Report WHS incidents, injuries and safety activities to your direct Manager and First Aid at the time it occurs. 
  • Promote proactive hazard/ near miss reporting. Report any hazards or near-miss incidents to your direct Manager and the People & Culture Director
  • Attend Work Group Meetings to discuss and promote safety. 
  • Liaise with Return to Work Coordinator to assist injured team members returning to work. 
  • Assist in the development, implementation, delivery and review of policy and procedures that ensure Raging Waters Sydney meets its various obligations including financial, workplace health and safety, industry and legal requirements. 

REQUIREMENTS 

Education

  • Degree Qualification in Human Resources, Business or related discipline preferred 

Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience recruiting in the leisure, tourism or hospitality industry including experience with the casual workforce
  • High level of understanding of Australian IR system. 
  • Experience with remuneration and benefit management 
  • Understanding of workplace planning principles 
  • High level of communication and leadership skills 
  • Strategic focus and strong negotiation / influencing skills 
  • Ability to develop and manage labour and expense budgets 
  • Proven analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to apply business management skills 
  • Strong computer skills, with competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & Powerpoint) 
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. 
  • Be able to work in all weather conditions including sun and rain, hot and cold climates, indoor and outdoor work. Physical requirements include but are not limited to - walking, carrying, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, squatting, sitting, standing, twisting and repetitious movement.

External: Contractors / Suppliers / Business Partners
