The opportunity
The physiotherapist will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver clinical services to veterans and their families to address a range of conditions including injuries, illness, functional impairment, and chronic disease.  This will include direct clinical services in individual and group settings, as well as education programs.  The role will liaise effectively with relevant internal and external providers to establish referral pathways, develop positive relationships, and ensure quality outcomes for clients. 
The position is based in our brand-new Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre on the Sunshine Coast!
  
You will work with a progressive and motivated team in a supportive environment to fulfill responsibilities including:
  • Working in our new Maroochydore location in the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre. This centre provides a safe and supportive environment for the veteran community to access social connection and mateship.
  • Provide a high standard of physiotherapy services in group and individual settings, including assessment/examination, diagnosis, individualised interventions, and the use of safe and evidence-based techniques/ modalities to achieve and maintain improved functional outcomes for clients, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Contribute knowledge and expertise to the establishment and strategic direction of physiotherapy services in Mates4Mates.
  • Taking a lead role in coordinating communications with the relevant referral agencies and other clinicians, including referrals for clinical/medical interventions where needed.
  • Support the supervision and maintenance of physical rehabilitation facilities.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert to provide health and physical rehabilitation advice, , within scope of your role.
  • Designing and delivering sessions developed for participation by a group of a wide variety of clients, including instructing and demonstrating in a group setting.
  • Maintaining currency of contemporary practices within professional field to support delivery of relevant, evidence-based rehabilitation services.
  
About you
We are seeking someone who is passionate about providing support for a range of rehabilitation and recovery needs while working closely with community members, within a veteran and family focused service.
  
The successful applicant will hold a tertiary qualification in physiotherapy, with registration with AHPRA. The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and stakeholders, and well-developed oral and written communication skills to benefit client support and management.
  
Candidates with the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply:
  • Experience and a high level of skills in working as a physiotherapist  with clients with a range of rehabilitation and health needs, including those related to injury, chronic conditions and pain.
  • Computer proficiency, including a demonstrated ability to use client information management systems for accountability and proficient record keeping.
  • Current driver’s license, First Aid and CPR certification, and relevant state Working with Children card (or eligibility to obtain).
  • The ability to work and communicate professionally and respectfully within a multidisciplinary team, while also thriving in an independent work environment where necessary.
  • While not a requirement, direct experience in delivering services to current or ex-serving Defence personnel and their families is also advantageous for this role.
