  • Flexible, hybrid work arrangements, working across 3 days per week
  • Based at our vibrant Southbank campus

About the Role
The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music is seeking a dedicated Music TherapyPlacement Coordinator to oversee placement activities essential for the smooth operation of the Master of Music Therapy program. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Music Therapy professionals.

Collaborating closely with subject coordinators and the Head of Music Therapy, you will ensure the efficient coordination and delivery of placements, facilitating meaningful learning experiences for students while promoting innovation and improvement in placement administration processes.

This role demands a high level of judgment and discretion, as it involves managing student placements in Music Therapy settings away from campus, in direct interaction with clients.

You will excel at building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and leveraging your exceptional organisation skills to coordinate placement related processes, including document compliance.

The position offers flexible, hybrid work arrangements spanning 3 days per week in a combination of WFH and on-site work at the Southbank Campus, providing the perfect work-life balance.

Please note that this is a parental leave back-fill position, with a preferred start date scheduled for late May/early June.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work with relevant Faculty professional teams and university legal teams to ensure current student placement agreements for all Music Therapy student placement
  • Effective liaison with external sector networks to foster collaborative partnerships that lead to placement opportunities for students studying the Master of Music Therapy
  • Work with relevant professional teams in order to support Music Therapy students to meet requirements of standardised student induction protocols and/or other compliance requirements of Music Therapy student placement agreements
  • Develop front-end user knowledge in the configuration and administration of the placements database and online reporting system (‘Sonia’)
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative ways to improve the placement experience for Music Therapy students and external partners
  • Contribute to the analysis of business processes and user needs and collaborate with relevant staff to develop appropriate solutions that drive efficiencies
  • Active contribution to and participation in Music Therapy team planning and strategic development

Who We Are Looking For
We're in search of a highly motivated, dynamic team member with demonstrated experience in providing placement support within a tertiary environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a person with knowledge of the discipline, a background in Music Therapy or allied health, to make a significant impact on the education and professional development of future music therapists.

A high degree of initiative and self-management to successfully contribute to and deliver a range of projects and tasks is critical to the role, and the ability to be self-motivated and agile in responding to changing work priorities.

While not essential, current registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association will be highly regarded.

You will also have:

  • Education or training in Music Therapy or allied health, and/or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience
  • Experience and expertise as a placement supervisor and/or Placement Coordinator in higher education
  • Academic administrative skills, including demonstrated experience solving problems that are logistical in nature, such as the matching of resources, large scale scheduling or timetabling, or previous responsibility for a workflow that included time sensitive deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in mapping and coordinating personal workloads, ensuring alignment with the achievement of individual and team objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to provide advice and support to a range of stakeholders at all levels, and the production of high-quality documents and publications.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to review and develop processes for increased efficiency and effectiveness within a broader student services context, with a particular emphasis on increasing efficiency through online systems;

For further information regarding responsibilities and requirements, please refer to the attached PD.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
