  • From $76,873pa to $95,090pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 3 up to Level 5 of EBA5
The appointed wage level will be dependent upon the successful candidate's level of experience, skills and qualifications. * 9 day fortnight
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.

The Environment and Sustainability Policy and Planning Department sits within the Planning Directorate and takes a lead role in developing the strategic environmental and sustainability policies to deliver this outcome. The Sustainability Planning branch is responsible for developing policies, plans and strategies and undertaking projects and initiatives to address key policy areas such as sustainability, climate mitigation, energy and carbon management and environmental management system requirements. The branch also has a coordination role for efforts to reduce Council's emissions and work towards our net zero by 2039 target for Council's operations.
About our opportunity
You will provide technical advice and undertake allocated sustainability, environmental, climate change and carbon management project activities, to meet the needs of the council and community within the City of Moreton Bay.
You will foster professional and effective relationships, working collaboratively and proactively with key stakeholders (internally and externally) to ensure projects, initiatives and services are achieved and to deliver safe, practical, and sustainable outcomes.
Additionally, you will:
  • provide technical input into the development, integration and implementation of key projects, strategies and policy and other initiatives relating to sustainability, climate mitigation and carbon emissions reduction, including the preparation of our annual corporate inventory of greenhouse gas emissions
  • lead and support the delivery of smaller, less complex sustainability planning projects to achieve strategic and business outcomes
  • conduct research and analysis and assist with preparation of strategic plans, costings, reports and other documents on a range of sustainability planning matters
About you
We are seeking a passionate team player with a good understanding and technical experience across the fields of either or a combination of, sustainability, environmental planning, environmental management systems, climate change mitigation, carbon accounting or strategic planning, including relevant qualifications within those fields or similar.
You will also have:
  • strong communication and collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to engage, and experience with stakeholder engagement and consultation
  • good research and analysis skills and be confident in preparing technical reports and documents
  • experience working within a government and political context on sustainability and environmental management projects and policies is highly desirable
