Policy Officer
NCAT Principal Registry - Policy and Executive Services
Location - Sydney CBD with access to hybrid working arrangements
Ongoing - Full Time
Clerk Grade 7/8 - Salary $106,025 - $117,363 plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
What you'll do
The Policy Officer is a key role within the Principal Registry of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). The roles main responsibility is to prepare timely, accurate, and quality written communication including responses to complaints and feedback received by NCAT, ministerial correspondence and briefings to the Attorney General and the Department of Communities and Justice leadership team.
When required, the role contributes to the development of policy and projects which support NCAT and its leadership team.
NCATs Principal Registry provides business and operational support functions to NCATs leadership team, including NCAT's President, Principal Registrar and Executive Director, and Registrar and Director. The Executive Director and Principal Registrar assists the President in the leadership and management of NCAT and undertakes statutory and other functions conferred by the Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act and other legislation. What we're looking for

  • strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to tailor communication to the audience.
  • strong attention to detail, and the capacity to think critically and analyse complex information to prepare accurate and high-quality complaint responses and requests for information.
  • the capacity to manage your workload, prioritise and meet tight deadlines for complaints and correspondence.
  • ability to independently undertake research and become familiar with the legislative frameworks, policies, and procedures that relate to NCAT.
  • skills/knowledge to contribute to the policy process by providing analysis and advice to support NCAT and/or Government policy initiatives and commitments relevant to NCAT.
