As the Postdoctoral Fellow, you will contribute to the creation of new knowledge and solutions to key problems in the field of cobotics, while also strengthening existing partnerships with external stakeholders, as well as working to create new, ongoing partnerships.
The introduction of collaborative robots (cobots) into the workforce gives the prospect of utilising the inherent features of cobotic systems to support quality assurance and compliance reporting requirements. By combining the cobot sensors and other sensing technologies, compliance measurements can be conducted, parts inspected automatically, and information for a digital thread captured automatically by the cobot system. You will utilise your expertise in the sensing and robotics domains to create solutions that utilise the abilities of cobotic systems to add value to the production process and reduce the burden of Quality Assurance requirements. The Postdoctoral Fellow will supervise postgraduate students, actively contributing to the research community within the university and across the Australian Cobotic Centre network.
The position is supported by the Australian Research Council’s Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Collaborative Robotics in Advanced Manufacturing program. The centre offers a training program which has a strong emphasis on professional development as well as technical skills. The program includes opportunities to build your knowledge, skills, experience, and professional standards through on-the-job tasks, social learning and formal training opportunities.
About you
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Experience in the development of systems used in Industrial IoT, cyber-physical systems, or human-robot collaboration environments.
- Experience working in industrial settings and/or within regulatory or compliance driven environments.
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and proactively as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-institution research team, as well as proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Completion of a doctoral qualification in related field with proven knowledge of research techniques and methodologies in a key field of research i.e. mechatronics, robotics, sensing, IoT, digital systems design, cyber-physical systems, digital manufacturing.
