About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work as a Practice Education Manager. As the Practice Education Manager, you will be responsible for the supervision, management, and overall coordination of the School Practice Education Team for the Social Work and Counselling discipline practice sites. You will initiate, develop, and maintain all practice systems and processes to ensure best practice that underpins student practice learning. You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting practice placements opportunities across the School and work closely with the Workplace Integrated Learning team in the Faculty to facilitate ongoing management of strategic provider relationships.

This role will require travel to practice sites where students undertake simulation and practice placement.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • People management

  • Practice education coordination

  • Practice education

This is a part-time (60%), continuing position.

At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $106,838 - $119,780, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $125,000 - $140,143 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases - at least once a year.

Special Conditions

This role may include the following travel, out of hours Work and leave considerations:

  • The provision of services and/or attendance at events outside of normal business hours as required.

  • The position is based at St Lucia, however some work may occur off campus at various sites as dictated by placement locations.

  • It is expected that planned leave will be taken outside of the primary practice teaching periods that align with the academic calendar or practice placement periods.

The start date of this position is to be negotiated, with the possibility of commencement from Semester 2 2024.

About You

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training, within a health setting.

  • Demonstrated experience of managing a team based at multiple locations.

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication skills, including the ability to supervise and motivate staff to deliver a high quality, student-centred service to students and academics within the School and clients external to the School.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and maintain relationships with new and existing placement providers by demonstrating strong consultation and negotiation skills.

  • Knowledge of current evidence-based approaches in relevant discipline and Practice Education issues, curriculum design, and accreditation requirements as related to Practice Education.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

  • The ability to communicate and report on your work to various stakeholders across the School, University and External providers.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the demands and opportunities within a complex and multidisciplinary practice and/or interprofessional teaching environment.

  • Willingness and ability to facilitate. Interprofessional Education / Interprofessional Learning.

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Professional Registrations and Licenses: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains a full professional qualification that means they are eligible for registration with the appropriate regulatory or professional body such as AASW and/or PACFA.

  • Working with Children (Blue Card): It is a requirement of this position that prior to commencement the incumbent holds and maintains a current blue card.
