ABOUT THE POSITION

The position will work across our two pre-schools, St Mark’s at Darling Point and St Michael’s at Vaucluse on a part-time (0.6 FTE) basis on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The Pre-School Art Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering the highest quality art experiences for all children attending the pre-schools, collaboratively planning with the teaching teams at each site and also helping broadly with team building, communication, resources, wellbeing and curriculum and parent engagement.

Capable of working collaboratively within a team to plan and deliver high quality teaching and learning programmes, and possessing an exemplary understanding of best practice, you sustain a deep commitment to implement rigorous, highly differentiated programmes in a pre-school setting.

You are an excellent communicator, creative, and able to work well with students, parents and other teachers. You are committed to continual professional development and reflection, and have a genuine interest in the growth of young people.

SELECTION CRITERIA

— A recognised Early Childhood Teaching degree or similar as approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Quality Authority (ACECQA)

— NESA accreditation to teach in New South Wales

— A proven passion for the arts demonstrated through teaching experience or as an artist

— Demonstrated and perceptive understanding of the role of evidence in informing teaching and learning

— Experience in digital documentation and journals

— Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills

— Strong understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law, the Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Quality Framework, and the Early Years Learning Framework

— A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural incident

— Current First Aid and CPR qualifications

— A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

— A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.

Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme would be advantageous.
