Primary Teacher
A remote community school is inviting passionate experienced remote teachers to immerse themselves in the language and culture of their school community. Located on traditional Indigenous lands, this school and community can provide a unique experience to an adaptable, resilient and knowledgeable teacher. Using Country as part of the classroom, the school provides optimal learning environments for the students to learn all aspects of the both-ways curriculum.
Located in the Pilbara, the school is located in the Western Desert approximately 6 hours from Port Hedland. With approximately 50 students, the primary class has approximately 6 - 12 students. The Board and community members provide regular, structured direction of the school.
The school would like to welcome a full-time Primary Teacher from Term 2, for the remainder of the year, with the possibility of extension.

Requirements
Registered (or ability to) with TRBWA, a WA Working With Children check and a current drivers licence, in addition to,
• Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in education
• Experience teaching in remote communities
• Ability to develop strong cross-cultural competency in order to understand key cultural values that need to be taken into consideration in all decision-making, consultation and implementation of programs and initiatives
• Ability to collaboratively plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant school curriculum
• Comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good administrative skills
• A willingness to work collaboratively with staff and community.
• Ability to build relationships and listen to the needs of the students, school and community
• Be prepared to learn from your students, and teaching methods from Indigenous staff.
This position involves a 6-month initial probationary period to provide an opportunity for yourself and the school to decide whether you are a fit.
Candidates must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work.
