The Principal Consultant will work as a pivotal part of the Wellbeing team, and in partnership with other areas of the business, to build a capable and resilient workforce. The Principal Consultant role will largely focus on proactive, preventative and innovative approaches to managing the impacts of working in high risk, dynamic and operational environments.
In this role you will:
- Assist in the review, development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures relating to employee assistance and wellbeing.
- Partner with other areas of the business, and engage with the workforce, to design and facilitate a range of responses to improve organisational wellbeing.
- Develop, promote and deliver employee wellbeing services (including training and employee support networks), consistent with strategic objectives.
- Provide advice and support to the agency in relation to complex people issues relating to mental health and wellbeing concerns that have arisen in the workplace (in collaboration with Injury Management, Human Resources and Employee Relations colleagues).
- Oversee the provision of first response psychological support services and provide advice to managers in such instances. This may also include being actively involved in the provision of psychological first aid to staff as needed.
- Employ a risk management approach to psychosocial hazards and risks to assist QCS in maintaining its legislative compliance while facilitating a proactive and systematic approach to psychological health and wellbeing in the workplace.
- Be actively involved in the management of contracts for the external provision of employee services - including those for employee assistance, integrated health and vulnerable persons.
- Support other QCS initiatives (including those relating to health and safety, inclusion and diversity, human rights, organisational development and transformation) by ensuring employee wellbeing programs are appropriately aligned.
- Co-design and co-deliver integrated employee programs and services wherever possible and appropriate.
- Build strategic partnerships across all levels of management and with the employee group to ensure holistic wellbeing and achieves and maintains its profile as a critical business consideration.
- Actively work in collaboration and consultation with central agencies, regulatory authorities, relevant professional and peak industry bodies, and other external stakeholders to ensure alignment with evidence-based practice.
