We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) in their data journey by being part of the growing Strategic Business Intelligence unit as a L6 Principal Data and Reporting Analyst. This unit is integral to the OAG obtaining the information products it needs to enhance its role as a leader in delivering data driven insights. You will be working closely with a highly experienced Director who was previously the head of Data Science and Analytics at the WA Police Force for many years.
As the Principal Data and Reporting Analyst you will be responsible for the delivery of information products to meet corporate and operational reporting and information requirements. The successful applicant will undertake complex data centric projects to produce information products and tools. You will work in partnership with the Principal Data Engineer to ensure required data is available in the right form at the right time.
We currently have one full time, permanent position available. Job share arrangements may be considered.
We are establishing a pool of candidates for full or part time, permanent and fixed term vacancies that arise until (30 November 2024). Fixed term appointments with the will have the possibility extention or permanency.

- Knowledge and experience in the use of computers and software packages to develop management and operational information products using Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Query, M Language and DAX), data modelling and the use of SSIS and SSMS to query SQL databases.
- Project management skills initiating, developing, managing, and implementing information product development projects at a technical and business level.
Candidates shortlisted for interview will be further assessed on the below points:
- Conceptual and critical thinking and analysis skills to synthesise problem solutions from structured and unstructured data, ideas, conversations and environmental scans.
- Communication skills for writing high level reports and general correspondence. Presenting information to various levels within the Agency and building professional working relationships.
- Facilitation and negotiation skills for consulting, facilitating and negotiating on a broad range of topics to senior management, other agency personnel and members of other audit entities.
The OAG conducts employment screening for successful applicants, including a national police clearance. An Australian Government security clearance may be undertaken, if required for the role.
