Eden Ritchie is seeking a Principal Financial Accountant to provide leadership and direction in the delivery of financial accounting, analysis, strategies, technical advice and support services with respect to the financial management operations of Department.

As the Principal Financial Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the operations of the Department financial ledgers, particularly end of month accounting activities.
- Lead the delivery of financial accounting services through the provision of professional and timely advice to stakeholders within and external to Department.
- Lead, manage and coordinate the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of financial management strategies and practices that ensure compliance with statutory requirements and government policy and enhance and promote sound and better practice financial management practice.
- Apply expert knowledge to the preparation of the Department annual financial statements, including the planning of all associated activities and communication with relevant auditors.
- Lead, manage and coordinate financial management projects including interpreting and analysing financial data and performance to ensure key outcomes are delivered on time.
- Provide reporting to senior management through formal financial and management reporting and ad-hoc reporting on key financial accounting matters and significant business initiatives and the possible impact on Department.
- Provide creative and innovative approaches to financial management to enable clients to maximise benefits to be derived from good financial management.
- Lead the development of documented policy, procedure and internal control frameworks and staff training programs in relation to the financial accounting services to ensure consistent, high quality practices across Department.
- Develop and lead a team of direct, shared and business unit resources in the provision of efficient, effective and economical financial accounting services across Department.
- Contribute to the achievement of continuous improvement by encouraging an environment where high quality work is achieved and is supported by the development and adherence to quality systems.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in the delivery of financial management services at a senior level involving the development and implementation of financial management planning and information systems, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, corporate priorities, plans and goals.
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary financial management and financial accounting practices with demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in developing and implementing effective financial practice and decision making support systems to improve work outcomes for Department.
- Proven high level leadership skills in fostering procedural and change within an organisation in response to a rapidly changing environment, by establishing positive and professional relationships with a broad range of stakeholder’s, team members, colleagues and clients and responsive to changes in client and stakeholder needs.
- Demonstrated high level conceptual and analytical skills as evidenced through the ability to initiate and coordinate research and to develop and implement innovative solutions within a complex financial environment and ensure compliance within legislative, policy and regulatory framework.
- Demonstrated extensively developed interpersonal and communication skills as evidenced by the ability to prepare significant financial reports, negotiate effectively with a wide range of clients and a significant record of achievement in a financial leadership role.
