The Role:
Working closely with the Registrar-General this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Financial Accountant to join our dedicated Office of the Registrar-General team to provide strategic advice and guidance on all issues of financial management. You will identify trends to inform long-term decision making, including best practice processes and deliver customer focused and strategically aligned services and practices. This role reports directly to the Manager Contracts and Compliance and will see you responsible for managing a large volume of complex financial transactions and arrangements which are outside of standard processing. This includes the calculation and verification of service payments to the Service Provider on behalf of the State, and significant financial auditing. This role provides high level financial advice to the Registrar-General, ensuring the efficient use of modern budgetary control and management processes and procedures.

To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:
- Delivery of customer focussed and strategically aligned services and practices, articulating complex concepts through timely and concise verbal and written communications and engaging stakeholders to successfully negotiate sensitive matters.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, including expertise in advising on and developing specialist and innovative solutions, processes and or discipline related policies.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate a commitment to customers.
- Advanced writing ability in delivering clear and concise advice appropriate to the audience and successful negotiations and conflict resolutions outcomes.
- Proven ability to work under broad direction in initiating, planning and delivering significant programs of work and providing timely, concise written and verbal communications to people at all levels.
Essential Qualification:
A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent. Full membership / accreditation with professional accounting body (e.g.: CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand)
Special Conditions
Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
Remuneration:
ASO7 $106,512 - $115,137 pa
