About the Role:
As the Principal Policy Officer, you will:
- Support the development, implementation and evaluation of student engagement initiatives including review and analysis of statewide data metrics for monitoring impact and outcomes
- Work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to support and monitor the implementation of strategic actions to lift engagement of children and young people in education, training and employment
- Lead and coordinate reporting requirements, including preparing policy papers, briefings, reports and submissions for Senior Officers and the Minister
- Represent the department, as required, on departmental and external committees and working groups
- Provide policy expertise and project support in a high-performing team delivering multiple initiatives to support whole-of-government priorities.
The ideal applicant will possess:
- Ability to research, analyse and synthesise complex information, collect data and monitor and evaluate the success of student engagement initiatives.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication, with experience contributing to the development of policy papers, briefings, reports and submissions in an environment of tight deadlines and competing priorities.
- Be able to assist in developing practice guidelines, governance processes and data collection, with experience contributing to policy papers, briefings, and submissions.
- The ideal applicant should also possess an understanding of procurement processes and the ability to liaise and negotiate with stakeholders, including from the non government sector.
- Flexibility to work across projects and support the work of multiple Directors.
