Job description

Are you passionate about water treatment operations and looking to make a meaningful impact in the community? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a dedicated and talented Process Engineer to join our dynamic Water Treatment Operations Team at the Nebo Road Water Treatment Plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, control, and optimise chemical, physical, and biological processes at water treatment plants.
  • Evaluate and optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of treatment plant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and strive to optimise and enhance service delivery.
  • Work within defined budgets and timeframes, meeting financial targets for treatment operations.
  • Ensure day-to-day operational activities are conducted safely.
  • Collaborate with the Treatment Engineer and operations team to plan, monitor, and report on treatment plant activities.
  • Assist in planning and prioritising approved work programs for future water and sewage treatment requirements.

The ideal applicant will possess:

  • Ability to evaluate and optimise treatment plant operations.
  • Compliance with relevant legislation and dedication to improving service delivery.
  • Experience in operating modern water and wastewater treatment plants and diagnosing process problems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in engineering or relevant discipline from a recognised university, or equivalent qualification acceptable for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
  • Previous experience in the water industry, with a focus on treatment operations/management, is advantageous.

  • Base Salary $97,898 - $107,820 + applicable allowances (dependent on experience and qualifications of the successful applicants)
