An opportunity for an experienced Product Development Manager has become available with a food manufacturer based on the south side of Brisbane. This is a permanent full-time opportunity with flexible work hours and opportunities to lead key national projects. Ultimately the purpose of this position is to develop new food products and improve existing products ensuring all new products exceed customer expectations and maintain profitability for the company.
You will form part of the site leadership team contributing to the strategic direction of the business, develop a small team of food technologists and ensure all products produced are of a high quality and communication with key stakeholders and colleagues on site is effective, resulting in the achievement of annual and seasonal strategic business objectives.

If you have achieved getting new food products to supermarket shelves, have a food science and technology background developing high risk products, and have a creative mind, we would love to hear from you.
Typical duties include:
• Develop new product concepts based on customer briefings.
• Review existing products to ensure cost effectiveness and sensory results are in line with the original product.
• Follow stage gate process from concept to launch.
• Provide technical expertise in briefings and launches.
• Take the lead on national NPD projects.
• Support the wider business and peers on other sites.
• Formulate and upscale product concepts for efficient production of goods.
• Execute product validations such as shelf-life testing, microbiology results are within critical limits, products meet customer
specifications, and all products produced are in line with food industry regulations.
• Work with QA on any new product CCPs and SOPs.
• Participate in product sensory evaluation.
In order to give yourself the best chance to secure this fantastic NPD management position, please ensure your resume meets the following requirements:
• Qualifications in Food Science or Technology or related with experience.
• Extensive experience developing new food products.
• Previous experience working with high-risk food products.
• Experience with a broad range of ingredients and raw materials.
• Strong knowledge of the NPD stage gate process, types of food packaging, FSANZ, sensory analysis, and ingredient
substitution.
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), time management, staff development and attention to detail.
