Universal Media Co is looking for a commercially-minded Product & Event Manager to join the team on a leading suite of B2B brands.  This role handles a suite of customers and draws upon that experience to lead product development. If you are as passionate as we are about opening doors and creating the right products for customers, this role gets you talking to some extraordinary Australian businesses, and working with innovative teams to develop the right marketing solutions for them. 

The Work

This role combines both sales and product development for a suite of media products under the Outdoor Design Source banner. These media products are for professionals who operate in various aspects of the built environment, especially outdoor recreation and external works.  The sales aspect of the role informs all aspects of the product development aspect of the role, and keeps us on track in meeting customers needs. The role sits within a team of highly efficient media professionals who are passionate about creating the right solutions for customers. 

If you enjoy speaking with decision-makers, and having the scope to create value-driven solutions to their marketing needs then this role provides opportunity to lead and create something of value.  The right candidate for this role enjoys building and leveraging a network, and may have worked in advertising sales or marketing for some time, knowing how to create marketing programs that reach everyone in the purchase funnel – from end-users to influencers.  

In this role you will be...

  • Researching, identifying and securing new leads, developing new business, opening doors, and starting business relationships every single week. 
  • Able to perform a Business Needs Analysis or Diagnosis for each client. 
  • Maintain a weekly WIP and forecast for report directly to the Publisher (in Hub Spot, training provided).
  • Drawing on this experience, identify strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities for ongoing development of the media that you manage.
  • Develop products that meet customer’s needs – these could be events, content services, lead-generation or other media products that serve the customer and grow the business. 
  • As each relationship evolves, you will work to maintain connection and increase the investment of clients, by identifying new opportunities to serve them and deliver growth. 
  • Create the message i.e. prepare and present effective sales presentations which will help to develop and manage relationships with key client groups to secure long term income streams. 

You will succeed in this role if you …

  • Have strong commercial skills and a background in media sales, working with a range of small, medium and large customers.
  • Enjoy ownership – You will be able to work your own patch and make a difference to the company.  
  • Are personally motivated i.e. are a self-starter and enjoy working independently.
  • Understand a client-focused approach – You will know how to organize a week around client meetings as a priority, how to listen to client needs, and are motivated to meet them. 
  • Are personally confident and likeable - Your asset is your ability to achieve cut-through and provide consultancy.  You are confident in your ability to describe a marketing concept to a business person. You love attending events and meeting people. 
  • Enjoy reading people, understanding what they need, and are able to deliver your solutions in language they understand. 
  • Have developed events or other media products before and driven strong commercial outcomes. 

If you have at least 5 years in some form of media sales or event, and a proven track record for innovation we would love to hear from you.  Experience with digital advertising is essential.  Experience in niche or B2B markets would be an advantage.  This role is based in our North Ryde Head office and includes lots of field work.
