Job Title: Product Group Manager
Reports to: Head of Category Management
2 – Job Purpose
The aim of the Product Group Manager role is to work with the Head of Category Management to ensure the management and development of the Product Group Manager’s specified product portfolio is based upon defined market needs and opportunities, which align with Senior Management’s strategic direction of the organisation.
The role of Product Management is an important position within the organisation, and will involve close interaction with most other areas of the business to ensure that the role can be successfully performed.

4 – Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for the maintenance, management and development of a specific product portfolio as defined and agreed by Head of Category Management
• Maintain good relations with existing vendors and create strong relations with new vendors. Must ensure that all discussions with vendors achieve outcomes aligned with the strategic and tactical requirements across all levels of the organisation
• Source new products with specific market needs and opportunities that complement the existing product portfolio, and then undertake all necessary preparation to successfully launch these products to market
• Assist the Procurement department in managing the overall inventory levels for all products within the specified portfolio, by ensuring that an optimal stock level is maintained at all times
• Ensure that all Material and Vendor Master Data for the specified product portfolio is accurately maintained and updated in a timely manner
• Design and implement market research projects to assess customer attitudes towards the current product range, competitor activity and potential new product / market opportunities
• Oversee the preparation of and updating of all marketing and technical material that relates to the specified product portfolio. This involves the preparation of both printed and electronic materials, and encompasses distributing these via internal and external forums. These functions are to be undertaken in close cooperation with the Marketing team
• Provide all necessary technical support to the Sales team to enable existing and new products within the portfolio to be sold in the most effective manner to allow the organisation achieve agreed sales and profit targets
• Assist in preparing and undertaking product training for relevant sales staff on a regular basis
• Prepare and distribute product portfolio specific reporting as requested
• Develop and implement effective exit strategies when a product is no longer required as part of the product portfolio
• Ensure that all correspondence, both internally and externally, is undertaken in a timely, courteous and professional manner
• Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, requirements for quality management and general duty of care
5 – Relationships & Authority
• Reports to the Head of Category Management and is accountable for the management of an agreed product portfolio as detailed by Senior Management
• Works closely with members of many other departments within the organisation, including Sales, Marketing, Operations & Logistics, Warehouse, Procurement and Master Data departments
• Perform additional duties as required by Senior Management including (but not limited to) Managing Director, Financial Director, Chief of Business, General Manager/s, Head of Sales
Salary Offer: $75,000 p.a. + Super
