Retail Banking Services (RBS) provides simple, convenient and affordable banking and general insurance products and services to personal and private bank customers, helping them manage their everyday banking needs, buy a home, protect their assets or invest for the future.
This role is a part of our Digital and Customer team within RBS. We are responsible for leading our retail end-to-end digital-first customer experience strategy, driving innovation, improving customer engagement and creating new business opportunities through partnerships, ventures and the Group’s digital ecosystem.
About the role and team
This role will work within the technology foundations crew in Customer Engagement & Digital. This crew is accountable for setting and executing the technology strategy for the App and Web experiences.
This role will be at the helm of our full-stack platform (frontend and backend) squads and will be responsible for setting and executing on the direction for our customer experiences. The role will be focussed on driving a new digital technology strategy while maintaining ownership of the existing features, experiences, and applications.
As the Product Owner of our full-stack squads, you will come from an engineering background and you will need experience in both product and technology strategy, have experience within the digital space at an enterprise level (websites, app etc.), have excellent prioritisation skills and excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills. As Product Owner you will be responsible for driving technology initiatives that empower a very large engineering community to deliver at pace.
The role will involve (but not limited to) being:
- Accountable for addressing impediments, driving decisions, and resolving escalations.
- Act as the voice of the business and customer and translate this for the team to coordinate a ‘one-team’ approach to problem solving.
- Provide clear lines of communication with our stakeholders on the product roadmap and prioritisation decisions.
- Identify, articulate and manage risks and compliance across streams of work.
- Incorporate design thinking and analytics to inform product design.
- Lead and develop the product roadmap, and engagement with senior stakeholders/ business units to manage the delivery of product roadmap.
- Lead the squad day-to-day to deliver change and lifecycle activities.
- Maintain a healthy prioritised Backlog to deliver business and customer outcomes.
- Manage senior business and technical stakeholders to ensure that prioritisation is understood and agreed to.
- Manage the squad’s performance to defined objectives including OKR tracking, etc.
- Have an engineering (Full Stack) background.
- Have experience in the digital space (websites, app. etc.) in a large enterprise.
- Have experience leading engineering teams/squads.
- Are passionate about building digital experiences, and passionate about driving the next evolution of our digital architecture.
- Are experienced in definition of product roadmaps, delivery of product vision.
- Have proven experience in influencing work and priorities through stakeholders.
- Have experience with Agile methodology, working within an Agile Matrix would be ideal.
- Have prior experience as a Product Owner in this space (highly desirable, but not a must).
