The role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our team in Canning Vale on afternoon shift. Looking after a team of up to 15 operators and glass cutters and heavily focused on meeting our customers requirements on time at the highest quality, we are looking for someone with the fab four: Manufacturing, Safety, Process and Leadership.
This is a full-time position, working the hours of:
- Monday to Thursday: 2:25pm until 11:10pm
- Friday: Midday until 5pm
We work in a blue collar, family-run business and we all chip in where help is needed. You’ll need to be comfortable with juggling the many hats that come with this role and comfortable managing on the factory floor guiding and developing employees. As a finishing trade, we don’t tend to make the same thing twice, so you’ll need an ability to think on your feet and deal calmly with the pressures of breakdowns, reworks and changes to schedules. As systems are critical here, a methodical mind is needed to create and maintain best-practice processes.
What will you do?
Reporting to the Executive Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall safe, efficient and functional operations of our factory and production employees so that we can continue to deliver products of the highest quality to our customers within the designated timeframes.
Your day-to-day role will include:
- Leadership of your production team including, recruitment, coaching, training & development to build the skills and retain talent.
- Ensure all factory operations are conducted to the highest degree of safety, security and general housekeeping
- Adherence to company policies and/or relevant safety standards, ensuring the timely reporting and investigation of any safety related incidents that occur
- Monitor quality control, ensuring the highest level of quality in the production of finished goods
- Production sequencing, ensuring customer orders are scheduled appropriately based on requirements and taking into account factors such as high priority customers, and ensuring delivery dates and times will be met
- Ensure loss prevention through waste management targets and review
- Manage production output and stock management
- Ensure regular preventative maintenance is carried out in conjunction with production needs
- In conjunction with the leadership team, help to drive changes to production processes and technology changes to ensure smooth transition, including training and supporting your team through the change processes
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced factory environment
- Strong experience in a leadership positions, preferably within a factory /high pressure environment with multiple competing demands.
- Experience building or maintaining strong processes and ongoing continuous improvement
- Experience championing safety within a manufacturing environment.
