The Opportunity
You must have previous experience with custom joinery, the manufacture of timber doors or other retailed timber products and the role may even suit a qualified builder / chippy / joiner looking to get off the tools but wants to remain a hands on leader.
Not only do you know your craft but you are ready to help grow and optimize our current existing Doors Production Team.
This position calls for a true leader in every sense of the word, someone who has been in a similar position within a timber manufacturing environment.
One the most important requirement of success is the ability to integrate into the culture and working environment. Exposure to CIP, Six Sigma or other production developmental processes will be highly regarded.
You must have a resilient personality with a strong yet “personable” approach. The accountabilities of this role will include but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership, coaching, support, and performance management with their team. The role is expected to be an example and role model to others.
- Leading business initiatives to increase productivity while reducing outcomes and waste on a year-to-year basis.
- Supporting and actively involved in driving OHS compliance and enhancement within the team and assisting other departments at the site.
- Ensuring the production lines performance is always optimized by investing in the continuous improvement of the teams’ skills through a mix of formal and on the job training.
- Responsible for delivering to the agreed Quality standards and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to address short- and long-term opportunities.
This is a fast paced, hands-on factory/production environment that demands operational and quality excellence.
Some of your daily activities will include but are not limited to:
- Planning and organizing daily workflow.
- Leading a team of production staff and managing their daily performance
- Working with the team on the factory floor where you may be required to lift heavy items.
- Communicating stock needs through our ERP and internal processes to assist with a just in time ordering process
- Operating machinery and tools
- Manage various activities simultaneously
- Ensuring smooth process through the factory
- Delivery of production on strict timelines
- Be hands on during manufacture
- Quality control
- Progress reporting
- Ensuring necessary stock levels are available for each production day.
- Managing the team and ensuring good working relationships
