The opportunity
The Program Coordinator will work under the direction of the Program Manager – Community Services and will be responsible for coordinating the daily supports and deliverables to young people, families and individuals.
The role is required to demonstrate extensive operational knowledge of the relevant procedures for the programs including supporting the ongoing maintenance of manuals and documents to ensure currency as well as nurturing local stakeholder relationships to strengthen service delivery and growth opportunities. The Program Coordinator, through appropriate engagement with the team, will be responsible for meeting the deliverables of Youturn’s Community Services programs within the Toowoomba region in the areas of Homelessness and Child Safety – Bridging Families, Targeted Family Support, Youth Support, Emergency Relief and Gateway House.
Some of your other key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver high quality service provision across Youturn’s Community Services programs, including 24/7 Crisis Accommodation, Bridging Families, Targeted Family Support, Youth Support and Emergency Relief including reasonable backfilling of roles during staff absences
- Oversee the development and implementation of individual case plans within a Client Centred Case Management Framework and in liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Manage and support the client’s service delivery with a coordinated approach to internal and external agency referrals (government and non-government).
- Identify and support the growth and development of community based programs within the Toowoomba region, in line with Youturn’s strategic plan.
- Ensure service provision maintains compliance with both internal and external policy, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Maintain relevant industry knowledge, contribute to strategies and initiatives, and remain aware of the emerging needs and interests of clients.
- Ensure rostering of staff to enable continuation of service and compliance with the relevant award.
- Provide effective leadership, support, development, and direction to all teams to achieve outcomes of the relevant programs.
- Prepare reports related to program area such as incident reports, as required.
What you’ll need
- Tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience in Community, Human services or Leadership, with particular focus on Child Safety in the Youth, Family or Homelessness and Housing sector.
- Hold a current ‘C’ class Open drivers’ licence
- Must hold a Blue Card issued by the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney- General.
- Hold, or be eligible to apply for an Application for Suitability Check by the Queensland Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.
- Sound understanding of regulatory and statutory compliance frameworks and statistic reporting procedures.
- Ability to provide comprehensive support and supervision to team members within line management delegation.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience in Community, Human services or Leadership, with particular focus on Child Safety in the Youth, Family or Homelessness and Housing sector.
Sound understanding of regulatory and statutory compliance frameworks and statistic reporting procedures. - Ability to provide comprehensive support and supervision to team members within line management delegation.
- Experience in Social Housing and/or delivering crisis accommodation programs including an understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of issues facing children, young people, and their families who are under Child Protection Orders or disconnected from their local community.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of client centred case management and demonstrated ability in applying such practices.
- Knowledge of issues facing people who are homeless and / or facing severe barriers to achieving stability and security in their personal lives.
- Demonstrated understanding of community based service delivery models, including relevant practice frameworks.
- An ability to interpret and understand Government legislation, and specifically an understanding of relevant legislation, policies and practices that impact on service development and delivery. This includes knowledge of the child protection system.
Other Requirements
- This position will be based in Toowoomba with some travel required to delivery locations as needed.
- Provide paid on call support to the relevant programs on a 4-week rotating roster.
- Successful applicants will also need to hold a ‘C’ class Open driver licence, Blue Card issued by Queensland Government and hold, or be eligible to apply for, a Licensed Care Suitability Check issued by the Department of Child Safety, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs.
