Job description:
Develop and ensure strategic and intelligence led delivery of effective operational plans relating to Animal Welfare, Biosecurity and Product Integrity in Tasmania with a primary focus on activities associated with the Animal Welfare Act 1993, Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1995, Primary Produce Safety Act 2011 and Biosecurity Act 2019.The position ensures effective collaboration with relevant stakeholders to integrate diverse policies and rules, and provides authoritative advice to staff, management and external stakeholders.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation)
Duties

Essential Requirements
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
Pre-employment
The following checks are to be conducted:
Conviction check in the following conviction areas:
Crimes of violence
Sex related offences
Serious drug offences
Crimes involving dishonesty
Serious traffic offences
Any other offences under the Biosecurity Act 2019, or related legislation
Satisfactory security clearance as required by port authorities.
Desirable Requirements
A tertiary qualification in Animal Biosecurity, Animal Welfare, Agriculture, Veterinary Science or equivalent, relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
Certificate IV in Government (Investigations), or equivalent qualifications or experience
A current motor vehicle driver's licence
Experience and/or training in emergency management
Firearms licence, or capacity to obtain a firearms licence (for official purpose)
