About the School of Social Work?
Social Work is the College's newest school and was established in 2020. Excelsia offers the Master of Social Work (Qualifying), the Graduate certificate of Social Science and the Graduate Diploma of Social Science. Students can expect to explore subjects such as sociology, psychology, and anthropology, gaining a well-rounded understanding of human behaviour and societal dynamics. Each course emphasises practical applications, ensuring that students develop the necessary skills and competencies for real world Social Work.
About the Role
Primary responsibilities include:
- To manage Social WorkField Education placements, providing leadership and support to Field Education staff.
- To ensure a positive learning experience for students across all aspects of their Field Education.
- To develop the School of Social WorkField Education curriculum and provide oversight of its development.
- To Manage Field Education Coordinators and Field Education staff for placements and unit delivery.
- Lecturing in agreed subject areas and managing teaching and assessment of units being delivered.
Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, applicants must address the selection criteria below and attach their response as a separate document.
Qualifications and Professional Standing:
- Holds or is working towards a PhD in relevant discipline and/or Masters' level professional equivalent.
- Qualifying degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with AASW.
Essential:
- Committed Christian involved in a local congregation.
- Minimum of 5 years fulltime post-qualifying experience in the field of Social Work.
- Experience in Field Education either as a Field Educator (Supervisor) and/or Field Education Liaison Officer.
- Experience (5+ years) in the leadership, management and supervision of staff
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and implement academic programs linked to good outcomes and high engagement.
- Demonstrated high level networking and engagement skills and stakeholder management skills, specifically in industry settings relevant to Social Work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and confidence in presentations.
- Technological literacy in a wide range of desktop applications to support reporting and analysis role requirements.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- An understanding of current and emerging trends in Social Work, higher education, and student wellbeing.
- Experience in a higher education setting (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
This full-time position is based in Macquarie Park.
