About the Role

The role of Program Director (Innovation Central Adelaide) consists of leading the Flinders and Cisco partnership, identifying and pursuing new opportunities to accelerate research and digital transformation advancement through an open innovation ecosystem.

The incumbent will be responsible for the business development and management of a program of works under Innovation Central Adelaide, a partnership between Cisco and Flinders University. The Program Director will be working closely with the Cisco Research Chair, Flinders staff and external stakeholders to identify and secure funding and progress research programs within Innovation Central Adelaide and the University.

This role is also responsible for:

  • Leading the development and delivery of strategy, budget management, new business opportunities and operations for Innovation Central Adelaide.
  • Fostering and securing strategic opportunities and industry partners, both nationally and globally, to support new research business opportunities and long-term relationships.
  • Effectively managing relationships with key internal stakeholders, students and graduates to support Innovation Central Adelaide projects, including negotiation and formalisation of relevant agreements and structures.

About the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancelor, (Research)

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Leadership Team comprise the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Training and Capabilities) and Dean of Graduate Research, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Enterprise and Infrastructure), the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Performance and Impact), the Chief Research Development Officer and the Research Lead: Indigenous Research Strategy. This team, together with the Research Development and Support (RDS) and the Office of Graduate Research (OGR) Teams provide leadership and support to achieve the University's research goals.

About You

A natural communicator, you will demonstrate a high level of oral and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with researchers, staff and stakeholders, to achieve the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and University objectives.

You are confident, have a high level of initiative and organisational skills, proving your ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Business Development Management (BDM) capabilities, encompassing enthusiasm and ability to drive change and exploit emerging technologies and/or approaches that consider the impact on the economy and society.
  • Experience in strategic and operational planning, which includes program management skills with an understanding of program and project management approaches and software that contribute to the successful delivery of concurrent complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking to plan, solve problems and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.
  • Exceptional management ability in leading teams to their full potential, including staff mentoring, recruitment, interpersonal and relationship management skills and the ability to delegate and manage staff performance effectively.

A Tertiary qualification with relevant experience; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination or experience and/or education and/or training.
