About the Role
The Department is seeking a dedicated Program Director to provide leadership, management, and coordination for all aspects of program delivery, reporting, and performance monitoring.
The program of work will involve releasing, managing, overseeing and controlling funding and grants for several local councils.
The Program Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of the program, meeting its objectives efficiently and effectively.
Key responsibilities:
- Overseeing Program Delivery: Manage all facets of day-to-day program delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Leading Project Application Assessment: Facilitate project application assessment processes, including evaluating variation requests such as extensions of time, changes of scope, and project withdrawals.
- Developing Performance Monitoring: Design, implement, and maintain robust performance monitoring mechanisms to track program progress. Generate comprehensive reports for stakeholders, including the Senior Responsible Officer, program sponsor, Minister for Local Government, councils, and Local Members of Parliament.
- Engaging with Councils: Strategically plan and execute engagement activities with councils to address challenges and ensure smooth project delivery.
- Enhancing Business Processes: Identify opportunities for improving business processes and systems to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, including the Local Government Division program management office, client relationship officers, senior departmental leaders, councils, and other relevant parties.
- Coordinating Media Requests: Manage and coordinate program-related information and media requests in alignment with departmental guidelines and objectives.
- Risk Management: Oversee program risk management activities, offering proactive advice on interventions and decisions necessary to ensure program delivery requirements are met. Mobilize departmental resources to support councils in delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Program Evaluation and Benefits Realization: Provide guidance on establishing and implementing effective program evaluation and benefits realization management frameworks to assess program outcomes and impacts accurately.
You will demonstrate proven experience working as a Program Manager / Director within Queensland Government and have successfully delivered several Policy and Strategy programs. Ideally you will have experience in managing funds and issuing grants.
You will possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in program management and stakeholder engagement. You will possess the strategic vision and analytical acumen necessary to drive continuous improvement and ensure the successful delivery of the program.
