Program Manager

The Position:
We have a great opportunity for a ‘hands on’ strategic focussed business facing Program Manager. This position will link and align with the strategic objectives of the Compass Group Australia business partnering closely within Sector, Transformation Office (EPMO), Digital and Technology and other enterprise stakeholders and ensures CGA seamlessly and effectively stands up, embeds, and enables complex multi-dimensional new business partnerships.
The Program Manager has the end-to-end responsibility for the development and delivery of the integrated strategies and plans for successful Day One (and beyond) operations as well as the broader business and digital innovation and transformation. The role measures the effectiveness of the program delivery strategies and plans to ensure CGA is well regarded as delivering on its client vision, commitments, and ultimately our client’ promise’.
As a hands-on role , the Program Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, to ensure strategic programs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget whilst identifying and mitigating risks, cross functional interdependencies, interlocks and continuously improving program processes.
- Develop and implement program strategies that align with organisational and goals balancing competing strategic and operational demands and priorities
- Plan, oversee and manage multiple complex programs simultaneously, identifying and managing emerging and actual cross-functional interdependencies and risks
- Lead and oversee all aspects of program development, implementation and closure across a portfolio of complex projects and workstreams, preparing business cases (as required) and project plans, establishing governance, managing matrixed resources, and meeting reporting requirements, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and in line best practice project management methodology
- Work closely with the program sponsor, program business owner, cross-functional teams, and assigned workstream project managers to develop the scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and delivery timing, interdependencies, dependencies, interlocks, risks, issues, assumptions, change management plan / activities
- Monitor program progress and performance to inform future planning developing effective strategies to ensure program success whilst providing regular performance reporting to the Executive SteerCo, program sponsor and business owner and stakeholders
- Foster a culture of lessons learnt, drive change and continuous improvement and best practices in program management processes and methodologies, creating a blueprint for future new partnership delivery excellence.
The Person:
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Program Management, or a related field
- Minimum 5+ years consultancy/professional services experience or minimum of 10 years proven experience as a Program Manager / similar role successfully managing complex and multiple programs simultaneously managing client relationships and implementing new and innovative digital solutions
- Strong working knowledge of project and program management methodologies, cross functional interdependency and risk management frameworks
- Proven experience with working under pressure within a fast-paced large-scale commercial business environment working through a period of large-scale growth and transformational change
- Ability to translate an enterprise strategy and sector visions into a cohesive, practical program strategies and plans balancing risk appetite with value (reward)
- Superior consulting, communication and influencing skills - cross-business and functional engagement, fostering project relationships with the ability to influence Executive and senior level stakeholders
- Demonstration of critical thinking, and empathy working in a dynamic and lean environment to drive outcomes, whilst modelling strong leadership, influencing, problem solving, and collaboration skills aligned with the organisation’s values.
- High levels of accountability: diligent, self-disciplined (self-starter) and able to use initiative to meet tight deadlines by defining, prioritising, and organising many competing tasks.
