The Garvan Genomics Platform provides expertise in flow cytometry, single cell and spatial methodologies and genomic sequencing for both internal and external research groups. This includes identifying and implementing new technologies and protocols and working with Garvan research programs to implement large-scale genomics experiments.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Project Coordinator role is responsible for organising various project activities for internal and external customers within the Genomics Platform. Core functions include stakeholder engagement, service quoting and project management. The incumbent will work closely with the Senior Project Coordinator to support the core business operation. This role will require you to be on site 5 days a week.
Salary: Up to $75,000 + 11% super + salary packaging (dependent on experience)
Employment Type: 2-year fixed-term contract

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Operational and Strategic Management
Manage internal and external research enquiries for the Genomics Platform including working with researchers to scope workflows, provide quotes, coordinate submission of samples and subsequent data delivery and invoicing.
Actively follow up with genomic enquiries, identify potential strategic opportunities to support service growth at the Genomics Platform.
Plan and undertake administration of the Platform’s program of work, special projects and support services, including sample forecast and tracking and customer surveys.
Identify and escalate project inefficiencies, risks and issues to the appropriate member(s) of the project management team as appropriate and in a timely manner.
Support general laboratory activities e.g., manage laboratory inventory and stocktake.
Business Planning
Proactively identify opportunities for change within the Platform that will help enhance its ability to meet strategic goals.
Engagement, Collaboration & Communication
Develop and maintain all relevant internal and external relationships to understand and meet the Platforms needs of stakeholder groups.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders and staff, role modelling Garvan’s values (detailed below).
ABOUT YOU
Formal qualifications and experience
Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of science/medical research or equivalent experience in a cellular and / or genomics laboratory.
At least 1 year of experience in a similar role across the areas of project planning, implementation and/or reporting.
Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain client relationships.
Ability to identify and assess human resources to create, initiate and track project plans.
Excellent organisation and time management skills. Ability to use sound judgement to handle and prioritise a variety of tasks while adhering to timelines.
Highly developed computer literacy skills and experience in Microsoft office suite and illustration software.
Excellent written literacy skills to prepare various reports and other documentation (e.g. project report updates).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate, scribe and actively participate in group meetings with senior members of the Genomics Platform and external professionals.
Ability to work in a fast-pace, dynamic, challenging work environment and respond to shifting priorities.
Experience in a CRM, (preferably Salesforce) to manage customer interactions and quote to invoice process.
