WHAT YOU'LL DO
This is a hands-on role that works closely with MEMP members (multicultural community leaders and emergency services) to increase preparedness and safety for multicultural communities during emergencies. The role involves both supporting the day-to-day operations of the MEMP as well as implementing innovative, community-centred initiatives.
KEY DETAILS
- This is an identified position for a person of colour with lived experience of migrating to Australia
- Those with strong networks within Victoria's newly arrived communities are strongly encouraged to apply
- Part-time, two days/week (15 hours)
- Work from home with one day a month from our Bendigo office, OR work from our Bendigo office
KEY DUTIES
- In partnership with the Co-Chairs and MEMP members, undertake community development activities that strengthen the capacity of multicultural communities and emergency services and increase safety during emergencies.
- In partnership with the Co-Chairs and MEMP members, attend meetings, workshops and other events to improve community and agency knowledge in how to improve outcomes for multicultural communities before, during and after emergencies.
- Provide secretariate support for the MEMP: arrange meetings, organise IT, develop agenda, take minutes.
- Undertake internal and external communications, including maintain the website, LinkedIn Group, answering email inquiries.
ABOUT THE MULTICULTURAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PARTNERSHIP (MEMP)
The Multicultural Emergency Management Partnership (the MEMP) is an independent group that provides strategic direction and leadership to enable safer, connected and resilient communities across Victoria. The MEMP is an unincorporated association and is auspiced by Neighbourhood Collective Australia. This position will be employed by Neighbourhood Collective Australia.
